Loan questions, answered
Is the loan really 0% interest?
Yes. Loans under the NSW Home Energy Saver program charge no interest and no fees, and there is no penalty for paying them out early. You repay exactly what you borrow, spread over up to 10 years.
Who provides the loan?
The NSW Government funds the program and appointed lenders deliver it, with Brighte and Plenti named as the loan providers. You still pass their standard credit assessment. We are not a lender and have no role in approvals.
What can the loan pay for?
Energy upgrades on an eligible NSW property: rooftop solar, home batteries, reverse-cycle air conditioning, heat pump hot water, insulation, switchboard upgrades, ceiling fans and draught-proofing.
Who is eligible?
Property owners in NSW, both owner-occupiers and landlords, with a combined household taxable income of $210,000 or less. The property cannot be social housing or short-stay accommodation. Renters miss the loan but become eligible for a separate discount stream opening later in 2026.
