Editorial policy
Short version: government sources only for scheme facts, dated figures, visible corrections, and a wall between the numbers we publish and the partners who pay us.
Sources
Scheme rules, rates and eligibility come from primary sources: energy.nsw.gov.au, dcceew.gov.au, the Clean Energy Regulator, and official program pages. Industry commentary can inform context, but a claim about what a scheme pays or who qualifies must trace to a government source, which we link at the bottom of the page that uses it.
Update cadence
Rebate rates change on published schedules, typically in January and July, plus occasional mid-year announcements. Every rate on this site lives in a single rates file stamped with the date we last verified it, currently 5 August 2026, and that stamp appears on calculators and guides. When a scheme changes, the file, the calculators and the guides update together.
Estimates are labelled as estimates
Certificate-based schemes move with market prices, and VPP incentives vary by provider. Where a figure depends on a market price or a provider's terms, we say so next to the figure and show ranges rather than false precision.
Commercial separation
We earn referral fees from accredited installers when readers ask to be matched for quotes, which is disclosed on the about page and in the footer of every page. Partners have no input into published figures, guide content or calculator logic, and no partner can pay to change a number.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the page and note the correction on it. Report errors through the contact page, and include the page address so we can move fast.
